What’s up, buttercups?
In our first Substack post, we wanted to let you know where we’ve been, where we are now, and what to expect from this newsletter. We hope you stick around!
Why this, why now?
Over the last few weeks and months, we’ve watched our small Discord community (originally consisting of 5 members) transform into a thriving hub, buzzing with support, resources and lively chatter. This growth spurt has been really exciting, and as we dedicated more time and effort to the community, we noticed a further influx of new members!
Watching something grow tall from a tiny seed can be exhilarating, and it has a funny way of spurring you on to create more. As you probably know by now, seeing progress within a project creates new, more dynamic goals and objectives…
One of our new goals is to expand not just the community, but the ways in which we can interact with our community. We want to be versatile, we want people to have options not only in how they hear from us, but what they hear from us.
Okay, but how is Substack different?
This newsletter is our one-stop shop. We’ll be using Substack to give you the ‘best bits’ of the week from across our community networks.
We understand that some researchers thrive on continuous conversations (join our Discord), while others prefer browsing spontaneous posts that can be revisited (check out our Reddit). If you enjoy seeing updates on your social media feeds, we've got you covered on Twitter/Mastodon.
And for those who desire a curated roundup delivered directly to their inbox, look no further. We're here to meet your needs and keep you connected in whatever way/ ways suit you best.
Nice, what’ll we get?
We hope to publish a newsletter here, once a week. In that post you’ll get things like:
Research Resources - Discover the latest tools and resources making waves in the academic world, as well as valuable tips to enhance your research journey.
Community Spotlight - Shining a light on the positive accomplishments, creations, achievements, or knowledge shared by our remarkable community members throughout the week.
Top Tips: Productivity hacks, practical templates, and reliable guidance tailored specifically for graduate researchers.
Article of the Week- Get comfy and delve into the depths of academia with us. Each week we’ll send you a carefully chosen article, specifically selected to pique your intellectual curiosity and hopefully, we can all learn something new together.
Latest from PGRH - Stay up to date with important community updates and brief announcements directly from the heart of our vibrant postgraduate research community.
Bonus Bit: We’ll make sure to send you something nice each week, as a little treat from us to you- like this study playlist
